Sporting Memories Group - Fridays, 10.30am - 12.15pm
Do you love talking about sport?
Newmarket Library have teamed up with the Sporting Memories Network to host a Sporting Memories reminiscence group.

The Sporting Memories group offers over-50s the chance to:

  • Handle superb sporting images and memorabilia from local and national collections
  • Revisit and share memories of taking part in or watching sporting events
  • Talk about any kind of sport, from football to speedway, cricket to athletics and beyond
  • Enjoy sport-themed games, quizzes and gentle activities
  • Banish loneliness and make new, like-minded friends
    Sessions are free of charge, with tea and coffee available.

Connie’s Colander - Wed 18 July, 10.30am
Human Story Theatre are touring libraries this summer. Tickets are free but there will be a collection for the theatre company based on pay what you can. Spaces are limited, booking recommended. 50 min run time followed by 20 min Q&A with a dementia specialist.

Open Space Area - Wednesdays, 2.30pm - 4.30pm

A space to drop in to listen, chat and think. Contribute your views and ideas, try out new activities and provide feedback, get to know others, find out about free local events and resources. Free tea and coffee provided.

From tots to teens - Sat 14 July, 11am - 12.30pm
Meet authors Gillian McClue, Pippa Goodheart and Rosemary Hayes who will gibe insights into the skills needed to engage the interest of the young reader. The panel discussion will be followed by a question and answer session, a book signing and a display of artwork.

Dogs Trust visit - Fri 27 July, 10.30am - 12pm
Join Dogs Trust for a morning of doggy storytelling and craft activities. Children up to 12 years old and their families welcome. FREE activity but must be booked with library staff.

Owl stories, and meet Glimfeather the Barn Owl! Please leave your details with a member of staff if you wish to attend.

Dragons and Angels - Fri 10 Aug, 11am-12pm
Come and visit Terri and Paul in the children’s library for some wildlife fun in the Fens. Please leave your details with a member of staff if you wish to attend. FREE of charge, suitable for 3-12 years.

Story Time - Fri 17 Aug, 10.30am
Join Sara in the children’s library for - The Princess and the Frog, Billy Goats Gruff, Thumbelina, The Little Red Hen and more. £1 per child. Please purchase tickets at the library counter.

Blue Cross Story Time - Sat 18 Aug, 10-10.30am and 11-11.30am
Join Kari and her dog Sheba in the children’s library for story time and craft activities. Please leave your details with a member of staff if you would like to attend one of these sessions. FREE of charge, suitable for 3-12 years.

Cats Protection - Tue 21 Aug, 12pm-4pm
Cat themed story, free goodies, quiz, colouring and cat crafts. Great for families with children ages 3-12 years.

Flying Models - Fri 24 Aug, 11am-12pm
Easy to build flying models with Terri and Paul in the children’s library. FREE event suitable for all ages. Please leave your details with a member of staff if you would like to attend.
